How To Have A Spa Day At Home
Ok, so we have been on lockdown for what feels like 6 months now. It’s been hard on everyone and we’re all being reminded constantly of the importance of self-care and minding ourselves during this time. Today I wanted to give you some ideas on how you can have a luxurious spa day from home during this quarantine. Not only is this truly relaxing, but it won’t cost you a penny. Almost everything I suggest is optional and you can find so many things to use around your home.
Firstly, gather some items from around your house that will make your spa day feel relaxing and rejuvenating.
Grab things such as:
- Essential oils (I like lavender)
- Herbal tea
- Infused water (I like cucumber and mint)
- Some chopped fruit (berries are my go-to)
- Fluffy dressing gown and slippers
- Cotton gloves and socks
- Relaxing music
- A good book
Next set up your space so you have everything you need prepared:
- Make sure you have plenty of heat and hot water
- Put dressing gown, slippers and, pajamas on the radiators to warm up
- Light candles and turn off any bright lights
- If you have an essential oil diffuser, you can put it on
- Silence and put away your phone and any devices
- Put on some relaxing, soft music
- Layout your chopped fruit, infused water, and herbal tea
Here are some ideas of ‘spa’ treatments I do.
I start with dry body brushing from head to toe. It’s supposed to be very good for circulation and lymph flow as well as exfoliating the skin. If you don’t have a body brush, sugar and oil mixed together make a great body exfoliator. Next, I have an Epsom salts bath with a couple of drops of lavender oil. I only have candle-light in the bath and play soothing music and soak for as long as I feel like. When I’m done with that I will moisturize and get into comfortable pajamas, dressing gown and, slippers.
Next, I soak my hair and comb a conditioning hair mask or hot oil through my hair. I pin my hair up and let it work its’ magic. Then I give myself a mini facial. I will give my face a thorough cleanse, followed by an exfoliation and some sort of mask depending on my skin complaints at the time. While I let that work on my skin, I soak my feet and give myself a pedicure. Followed by a hand soak and a manicure. I cover my hands and feet in moisturiser and put on cotton gloves and socks to let the moisturiser work in. While all that is working I will usually put on the Calm app and meditate. If I have an eye mask, I’ll put that over my eyes during this time and sit there for about 30 minutes.
Once I have finished with that I will rinse my hair and my face. I dry my hair and apply toner, serum, and moisturiser face. Lastly, I make my herbal tea and I snuggle under a blanket with a good book. I make sure to drink a tonne of water throughout and avoid eating any heavy meals. Finally, I try to have an early night.
